Description:

A spectacular sporting jug, densely transfer printed and decorated with scenes of stag hunting, bareknuckle boxing, cock fighting, fox hunting and bull baiting! Titled 'Fives Court' after the famous boxing ring in Panton St, Haymarket, London. Tom Cribb, 'champion of all England' was the landlord of the Union Arms (now The Tom Cribb) which held fights for 'men of letters' and actors including Lord Byron a great friend of the famous pugilist. Sublime.

 

Circa 1820

 

Approx - 4.25 inches (110mm) tall.

 

In very good condition throughout with professionally restored minor rim chips.
