A wonderful jug produced to commemorate the visit of General Lafayette to the USA in 1824. Featuring a transfer portrait of the general titled 'The Nation's Guest' on the reverse is a transfer portrait of Benjamin Franklin and below the spout the American Eagle with the legend ''Republicans Are Not Always Ungrateful'. 

Circa 1824

Approx - 5.5 inches (140mm) tall.

In fair condition with two hairline cracks extending from the rim to the body.
